A Calistoga Overnight Itinerary

Wine Country

May 21

Matt and I had our first kids-free night away recently… take me back! I truly appreciated the one night, but could have definitely done two 🙂 just fyi, if you have the means and help from family or sitters, etc, might as well take advantage and have a whole full day up there. I have a wine country guide here in case you do head up to Calistoga anytime soon and want to add in a few more things.

We drove up and arrived by the time Charlie’s opened for lunch (the owner is a former executive sous chef at The French Laundry! He named the restaurant after his son). It has become one of our top favorites in wine country! Farm to table perfection.

We got the little gem salad with sour cream and onion dressing and we always order the crispy chicken sandwich. Their wine list is also incredible. Can’t go wrong with your order here!

After lunch, we checked into Solage and while we waited for our room, went over to the pool. I love their pool so much! In my opinion, the most lively and beautiful vacation-vibe setting.

We ordered a hugo spritz and chips and guac, read for a couple of hours, and then made our way to the room to freshen up and get ready for dinner at Sol Bar on property.

The lighting and nature in wine country, breathtaking… every single time I arrive = a full body exhale.

Sol Bar is always a wonderful experience. Their “canned tuna” was insane — can’t miss!

In the morning we drove down the road to Sam’s General Store for coffees (charming little gem, highly recommend!) and then headed back to the property to go for a long walk.

I had a hydrafacial at 9am and Matt went to the gym and did a wellness circuit (mineral pool / sauna / cold plunge). I met him after and we sat by the spa pool sipping a delicious green juice that we ordered from their little juice bar. A dream morning!

After a slow start pool-side, we packed up and treated ourselves to one more stop, lunch at Charter Oak.

Such a luxurious recharge. Felt so good to have this quiet escape and some alone time. Always here if you have questions or need advice planning a trip to wine country, one of my favorite topics of discussion. We have a handful of local trips coming up, very much look forward to more of this.

Hope you have a beautiful summer! x
