This past Friday, Matt and I drove up to Sonoma to sip wine and sunbathe at our wine club. Last year when we joined we spent many weekends sprawled out on this hill, so it felt so good to be back. There’s no better way to celebrate the first weekend of summer (or any weekend for that matter). A picnic blanket and bottle of wine, this view, the sun on our skin, the welcomed warm weather, and Scribe’s fabulous taste in music playing in the background.
Make a Reservation at Scribe
When you’re making a visit, be sure to come hungry. I suggest ordering a picnic basket to accompany your vino; a fresh baguette, an assortment of cheeses (cowgirl creamery and such), fruit and veggies from their garden, something sweet, and some water to keep you cool under the sun.
Their Pinot Noir has become one of my absolute favorite wines, ever. But you really can’t go wrong with what you order, everything is great.
Explore Sonoma Square
There are so many things you can do here, but I will share a few favorites. Pangloss Cellars is a tasting lounge with fantastic wines and the atmosphere is just gorgeous. El Dorado Kitchen is my favorite restaurant on the square – if the weather permits, snag a seat on the back patio and enjoy all the beauty it has to offer… and the Gin Gypsey cocktail (see my Insta shot here). Pick up cheeses from Sonoma Cheese Factory and have your own picnic in the square park.
Pick up sandwiches from Carneros Deli
It looks like a rinky-dink deli, but the sandwiches are so good. We’ve stopped here on most of our Sonoma/Napa trips to bring with us tasting (update: Scribe no longer allows outside food). Perfect meal to prepare you for a day of wine!
End the day at Fremont Diner
Perfect for ending a day of wine tasting… Fremont Diner is delicious. French fries and shake are always a good idea and the setting is very cute and quaint.
If you need a place to stay
I highly recommend Carneros Resort & Spa or El Dorado Hotel. Carneros is definitely a wallet whack, but 100% worth it. El Dorado is also beautiful, slightly cheaper and very conveniently located. I’ve stayed at both and look forward to booking at both again in the future.

This looks so fun! A trip to sonoma must be in my future! That bag is also awesome.
Let me know when you plan a trip, happy to help with recs! 🙂
I LOVE the Carneros Inn! We’ve stayed there twice and I’m always scheming ways to make it back. The cottages are so cute and we’ve loved every meal at Boon Fly Cafe and Farm. We’ve actually spent Thanksgiving dinner at Farm 3 of the past 5 years. Delicious food without the prep or cleanup! Enjoy your time there!!
Oh it is the best! I just published photos from my stay last night, it’s just heavenly there! xx
What a dreamy day, everything looks amazing!
