I woke up this morning in a cozy hotel room. I sat up and opened the drapes to see hot air balloons floating along the hills. Sunrise in wine country is really something else. I called in-room dining to order coffee and eggs and opened up my laptop. When breakfast arrived, I decided to sit by the window and continued to write. This lovely way of staring my day got me thinking. It had been so long that I romanticized parts of my daily life. And that's kind of my thing. It's easy to do so when at a gorgeous resort—when you're meant to feel inspired. It's in these intentional rituals that truly enhance your daily life no matter where you are.
It's also the change in scenery and routine. Whether it be enjoying a meal in a different setting in your home, lighting a candle and turning on classical as the backdrop to work emails—small intentional touches make such an impact. It's in these change-ups, you're reminded of the immense possibilities and abundance at your fingertips in the everyday. I can be a creature of habit, and when I get too routine, I start to lose sight of the magic in the mundane.
So this month, I want to give myself a refresher. Alongside rest (because I know come Oct 1 it's gonna be holiday bustle) the theme of this month is change. Taking a different route, trying new places, seeing things from different perspectives, and getting a little romantic with my rituals.
Inspired by
I'm inspired by anything and anyone who does things differently. As simple as an email I open that is articulated in a beautiful way I haven't read a hundred times before. The honest, real, genuine approach to showing up, creating, sharing, living.
Beautiful writing. Craving books right now and it's a bonus if the author is sharp, witty, and funny. Obsessed with Dolly Alderton, she's got *it. Recommendations always welcome!
Nature. I know I'm going to miss light-filled mornings and evening sunsets soon. Spending a lot of time outside and savoring the beauty of the last kiss of summer.
Some things I've saved, shared, loved
Have a beautiful September..
My best,
Ashley
