The golden leaves popping up around our neighborhood and cool gloomy mornings as of late have me inspired…
Those cozy months ahead—bundled in knits and taking in the way natural beauty transitions to a new season in such decadent ways gives me all the warm and fuzzies. This time of year is really something special. And sartorially speaking—autumn is hands down my favorite season.
As I mentioned in my fall style notes last year (a good one to revisit) less is more is my approach with my f/w wardrobe. My view on collecting pieces is very much a capsule state of mind. Quality forever things that you love and are excited to rotate and mix/match with your favorite basics. Some of my favorite basic go-to’s as of late— James Perse for t-shirts (my newest hack is to buy a men’s tee to get a more oversized version). Vince for quality ribbed tanks and long sleeves, sweaters, jackets, blazers. Lisa Yang has become a very favorite for sweaters, too! Lauren Manoogian… the most delicious knits. The Great for tees and lounge, always. Still devoted to Agolde… gonna be such a good day when I can wear my Toni jeans again! I also have become big on Frame as well… such good stretch denim.
Basics are the building blocks of my f/w closet and then I look to beautiful jackets, boots/mules/sneakers, and bags to elevate it all up. I mentioned all of my favorites over in this post (I revisited from last year and can’t help it—I’m a creature of habit!).
To me, a perfect fall/winter capsule includes: basics that fit perfectly and denim you love (in both blue and black). Sleek neutral shoes to rotate: booties, knee high boots, sneakers, mules and/or ballet flats. A great leather jacket. A beautiful wool coat. A fun statement jacket or two! A collection of quality knits. And everyday sunglasses, cashmere beanies, and scarves to rotate.
