Summer knits

This sweater is such a beauty and inspired me to put together this post. I've always admired an oversized classic cable knit for summer and absolutely love that this one is 100% organic cotton. The weave is thick and looks just as luxe as wool/cashmere/alpaca styles. I like it even more as its obviously a lot more breathable for warm days and evenings.

Side note: I had to look up the origin of cable knit sweaters, also known as Aran knitwear—they were first created in the fishing communities of the Aran Islands in Ireland in the 19th century. The sweaters were originally knitted from untreated yarn to keep fishermen warm, and the cable stitch often represented a fisherman's ropes. Cute!

Anyway, as you may suspect, I'm a big sweater enthusiast, even when the temps begin to raise! I love to have one on hand in evenings, at bbq's, dinner parties, by the lake, on trips. They become my layering piece of choice to drape over my shoulders or legs if a nice breeze is involved. I have a few I wear all the time and have been saving some cute styles online, too. See below!

I'm currently living in this, this, this, and this.

P.s. I have been adding to my shop pages here (organized by category) and also to my Spring Pinterest board. x
